here's a question for you...

here's a question for you...
as stated in one of my recent posts, i have been really taken and moved by the story behind the movie End of the Spear. Jamie Saint, the grandson of Nate Saint, came and spoke at our church last Sunday and really drove home the message of this story, Forgivness! we as Christians live in a fallen world, a world that in order to reach, we must first forgive, then make attempt to "Make Contact", no matter the cost.
so without interjecting to much of my own thoughts, here is a twist on the story, and the making of the movie.
the lead actor, Chad Allen, chosen to play Nate Saint and grown up Steve Saint (Nate's son) in the movie, is a current, active, gay, homosexual activist.
where does your mind go with that? What does that say? How does that affect your support of the movie? WWJD (What Would Jesus Do) Please give me your thoughts.
-C. Allen

I am related to the Saint family. Because of the hostility I read on the other forum, I have chosen not to respond to most. I am so proud of Jamie as he has matured into a fine, solid Christian man. If I were not a Christian, this argument would so push me away. Jesus was one who didn't condemn, who found a way to embrace the sinner without kicking him down. Some of the posts have taken a life of their own, caring not what facts may have been involved. No matter what anyone with information says, they are be-littled and ignored. I have cried and have prayed. It is an awesome movie. Goodness, those who want more gospel should be the first ones to write a script that includes scripture and invest their money into it and see how far they can go with it into theaters. Where I am, people are standing, clapping, crying, and talking about God. If the intended audience was just for Christians, that would be fair to complain, however, the intention was and is to be a hook to the unbeliever as well as inform the believer who is tired of being told how to live. They want to see someone live it out loud. So, don't damage the movie. Accept it for what it is and take a non-believer to see it. I haven't had more eagerness to take my unsaved friends to something for years. Meanwhile, the Christian camp is so divided and making a sad pictue of what a Christian is. I am glad God doesn't use cookie cutters to make all of us the same. It wouldn't be so fun.

If anyone really knows the Saint family, you know they are so far above reproach morally. One of my greatest privileges in life is to be related to such wonderful people who have helped me grow in my walk with Christ. They are not watered-down and empty of God. They are God-fearing and God-loving people. I love them and weep that mean-spirited people are so free to tear down people they don't know. Chase, I thank you for providing a kinder place to post.

One last thing, one friend went. She knew one actor was controversial. She asked me at the end, "Which one was it? I couldn't tell."

Thanks for posting this. I have been writing this week on my blog about how Steve Saint is living out the gospel by his way of dealing with Chad. Thank you so much for posting. This is truly how Jesus,Friend of Sinners, loved us in spite of our sin.

the 'movie' itself is not 'christian' or 'heathen.' it is art. so much beautiful art in our world from ancient days to now--whether 'religious' or not, but especially even religious church art--has been created by non-christians. and heck, all of us are broken people in need of grace. while i don't agree with that sort of activist lifestyle by that actor, i am not upset that he had this connection with and exposure to the truth.

how many preachers do we let live lives of self-aggrandizement? how many church board members do we let live with a love of money? how many people in our congregations do we let actively serve who have pride in their hearts? maybe God is as much praised by this man's work as He is by our own hollow actions of 'devotion' to Him.
