and so I start another day

now that i am starting to get a handle of this blog stuff, i want to post a few pictures as well as give a bit of an update as to what is going on with my wife Stephanie and i.
above is a picture of ambulance triage here at Methodist Hospital. this is were it has all started. tonight i have been checking in the ambulance load coming into the hospital between the hours of 0600pm on the 2nd and 0600 on the 3rd from right there in that chair. it's a hard life but someone has to live it. so needless to say, tonight i have had a lot of time to sit and learn all about the wonderful world of blogging.

well, a catch up on my wife stephanie and i, here goes... Stephanie is currently working at St. Francis Hospital here in Indianapolis as a Systems Analyst in the Admitting Department. she is happy there but looking for something that will put her degree to use. She is also the proud mother to a 3lb 13oz female chihauhua named Peyton. Stephanie and Peyton are best of friends and have taken care of each other while i have been in paramedic school for the past 13 months.

as i said, i have been in paramedic school here at Methodist Hospital for the past approx. 13 months. this has proven to be one of the hardest things Stephanie or i have ever been through. paramedic school has consisted of many, many hours in the classroom, many, many hours on the ambulance, and yes, many, many hours in the hospital. as if all the clinical hours were not stressful enough, paramedic school is done on a semester by semester basis. allow me to explain, each semester (of which there are three) must be passed inorder to proceed to the next. if you fail to meet the grade requirments or the clinical requirments of the semester, your out. once out, you get to wait until next year to make another attempt. all that said, with the help of Stephanie, i have passed all three semesters. coming up... on monday the 8th i will sit for my Oral Boards. then on thursday the 11th we take the Comprehensive Final Exam. if all that is passed with a score of at least 80% i will be allowed to move on to the National Registry in september, on the 16th & 17th. if the National Registry is passed I will be a paramedic. the test dates have been included above so that prayers could be sent up at the correct times.

to the right is a picture of Trauma Room #7 at Methodist Hospital. this is a room i have spent a good bit of time in over the past few years.
as well as going to school at Methodist Hospital, i also work full time there in the Emergency Department as a EMT-B/ortho tech. Between school and work i spend at a min. 6 hours a day 7 days a week in methodist hospital, its been an ok second home but im ready to go back to my own home with my own wife.

as if that all has not been enough, for the last 8 weeks i have been attending a class for new hires at the Marion County Coroner's Office. this class has been all classroom thus far. however, starting this month i will be required to assist in a min. of 3 autopsies. next month i will start my field internship with the Marion County Coroner's Deputies where i will recieve street training on being a Deputy Coroner. if all goes as planned, i will attend a 2 week class in october to recieve certification as a Deputy Coroner. the plan after that is to work as a part-time Coroner's Deputy in Marion County.

above are the two loves of my life. without these two none of the above would even be thinkable. this past year has been just as hard, if not harder, for Stephanie as it has been for myself. she has really been there for me. she has been the support to keep me going, and the arms waiting for me when i got home at the end of the day. i can't thank God enough for Stephanie. and as for Peyton, well, she has done her job. we got Peyton to keep Stephanie company while she was at home alone. now, we can't imagine life without her. she is the most fun! so much fun that we are looking to get another toy chihuahua to keep Peyton company.

so thanks for reading, hopefully this gives a little insight into what is going on in our household.
